Growth Labs · One manager. One real problem.

A real leadership problem.
A clearer way forward.

Being a manager can become very human, very quickly.

A team member pushes back on everything. Someone good loses energy. Two people stop working well together. A change that looked simple on paper lands badly.

Growth Labs give managers a calm, practical place to understand what is really happening, try a useful response and prepare for the moment they must handle at work.

Move a real problem.

Four problems with people at work that rarely solve themselves.

For a situation that needs action: missed expectations, changed behaviour, low motivation, a team pattern getting in the way or a change people are struggling to accept.

01Performance & BehaviourA team member is missing expectations — or their behaviour is affecting others.

You have explained what needs to change. It still is not changing.

The work may still be missing the mark, the behaviour may be affecting other people, or every conversation may end with another reason nothing can move. You know you need to act, but you want to be clear, fair and ready for the response.

We work on

  • expectations, evidence and useful feedback
  • emotional regulation, boundaries and documentation
  • the moment the employee resists, counters or disagrees

You leave with

  • a clearer diagnosis of the problem
  • a prepared and practised conversation
  • one fair next step and a plan to follow through
02Motivation & DevelopmentSomeone has lost energy, confidence or ownership — and encouragement is not changing what happens.

Someone who used to contribute has become quieter, careful or disconnected.

Ownership may have slipped, confidence may be low, and encouragement or another goal-setting conversation is not changing what happens. You need to understand what is missing — and what is not yours to carry.

We work on

  • listening for needs, barriers and choices
  • realistic development options and useful feedback
  • the difference between low motivation and a performance issue

You leave with

  • a more grounded conversation approach
  • options that protect autonomy and clarity
  • one small workplace experiment
03Team Dynamics & CollaborationTension, dominance, silence or weak collaboration is costing the team.

The work gets done, but the way people work together keeps costing the team.

One voice may fill the room while others hold back. Tension may travel into handovers, or the same small frustrations may keep returning. You need to see whether the pattern sits with one person, a relationship, the team or the way the work is organised.

We work on

  • constructive disagreement and quieter voices
  • when and how the leader should step in
  • resilience, creativity and collaboration habits

You leave with

  • a clearer map of the team pattern
  • a conversation or intervention to practise
  • one observable team experiment
04Leading Through ChangeThe change makes sense on paper. People may still be losing something that matters.

The change may be necessary and still land badly.

People may keep asking the same questions, resist quietly, lose confidence or protect something they believe they are about to lose. You need to communicate honestly even when you do not control every decision or have every answer.

We work on

  • impact, uncertainty, resistance and real loss
  • honest acknowledgement, options and trade-offs
  • responding when the final decision is not yours

You leave with

  • a clearer reading of people’s response
  • a prepared explanation or difficult conversation
  • a realistic next step with the backing it requires

Special Labs

Explore a focused question.

For a wider leadership question: working across the organisation or finding a leadership style that feels clear, credible and genuinely yours.

Work beyond your own teamLeading Across the Organisation

Sometimes your own team is doing its job, but the work still breaks down between departments. Priorities clash, information arrives late, decisions stall and it can be difficult to influence colleagues you do not manage. This Lab helps you have clearer cross-functional conversations, work through competing priorities and make cooperation easier without losing sight of your own team.

  • map interdependence and the hidden cost of silos
  • practise a cross-functional ask, disagreement or boundary
  • choose one relationship to strengthen
Lead in a way that feels like yoursLeading in Your Own Way

You don’t have to copy someone else’s way of leading. Explore your values, strengths, boundaries and the behaviours that feel natural to you — while staying flexible enough to respond differently when the situation asks for it.

  • notice borrowed rules, fears and overused strengths
  • name your values, strengths and boundaries
  • choose three visible behaviours and one safe experiment

BellBell Play Time

Serious practice.
Made fun.

Play Time is the light-hearted practice companion to the Lab running that month. It is not a shorter version of the Lab and it does not promise to resolve a complex case. Instead, it gives you a safe, social place to try one skill, notice how you respond and take one small experiment back to work.

Each workshop stands alone. Join the skill you need, return for more practice or take the full four-week rhythm.

You arrive in a fictional workplace moment, play through it once, pause to unpack what happened and then try a more realistic version with less guidance. You leave with one small experiment to use at work.

Week 1

Notice

See what is actually present before interpretation takes over.

Example · Performance & Behaviour

Facts before judgement

What can you actually observe about the missed expectation or behaviour — and what are you assuming?

Week 2

Reframe

Look at the situation from another useful angle before solving it.

Example · Performance & Behaviour

Look beyond the visible problem

Is this about clarity, capability, capacity, motivation, behaviour, relationship or the system?

Week 3

Expand

Create more possible responses before deciding which one fits.

Example · Performance & Behaviour

More than one fair response

Generate workable options before choosing the conversation or action you will take.

Week 4

Respond

Practise how you want to respond when the moment becomes real.

Example · Performance & Behaviour

The difficult moment

Try the sentence, boundary or response you may need when the other person pushes back.

In Main Lab months, the complete four-workshop rhythm runs weekly. In Special Lab months, one or two special-edition Play Time workshops connect with the question being explored.

Is this the right starting point?

Start with who is carrying the challenge.

Different situations need different kinds of support. Growth Labs are designed for one manager who wants practical help with a real situation and is ready to reflect, practise and take a responsible next step.

Stay with Growth LabsIf you are the manager carrying a performance, behaviour, motivation, team-dynamics or change challenge — or you want to explore one of the two Special Lab questions.

Choose The Growth RoomIf you need a private one-to-one space to think, decide or prepare for a specific conversation.

Choose Team That WorksIf the pattern belongs to one existing team and the team needs to work on it together.

Choose BellBell Signature LabIf leaders across different departments need to act as one more consistent leadership system.

Active legal, disciplinary, safeguarding, safety or clinical concerns may need internal or specialist support first. BellBell is not therapy, legal advice or an HR investigation.
